Beautiful soul; amazing human, welcome! Let's start with my original video first.
00:10 Today's topic is one of my favorites: the power of presence. Are you feeling present right now? Becoming present is a great way to turn off the autopilot mode of your life. Whether it's playing a board game, taking in a sunrise or a sunset, or whatever it is, that helps you be the book The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle is all about this. It's a great book and absolutely one of my favorites. So much so that I've created a book discussion around the book in the Empty Nest Success home that you can join anytime. The more moments you catch being present, the less you'll be on autopilot mode. And don't forget, you are amazing.
00:59 I mentioned the book discussion and let me show you where that is how you navigate it. So you would go to video content. And click The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, and you will find all of the resources here, believe I have the first one, you don't have to log in. But if you would like to view all of them and comment, then you will need to register for a free account - no charge at all. The Power of Now is one of those books where every time I read it, I get a little more out of it. I it just speaks to me differently every single time I read it. presence and tuning into where your body is, a lot of times our body is sitting at work sitting in the car, sitting here, walking down the street, but our mind is no where where our body is. Sometimes that's not a bad thing. It's all good.
What's interesting is, the more you're conscious of that, and can begin to tune in and be where you are. If you think about it, we are human be-ings, not human do-ings. So learning to tune in to where we are to be to be present to tune into the now following up from our last video where we talked about the future. If we catch those moments where we are finding ourselves dropping ourselves into future scenarios that could happen or past scenarios, and we catch the feelings and we can tune into: Well Wait, where am I right now? What am I doing? I'm sitting at my desk and I really don't need to worry about this thing that may or may not ever happen. What can I do to be present and this is where the top of your toolbox items come in handy. Sometimes, it's as easy as taking a few deep breaths. Sometimes it's doing an activity, such as walking outside, you'll figure out what works for you and it also may change.
If you would like some reset exercises, I will be adding more over time but I do have a few in audio content. They our GPS reset exercises I have a few there and you can choose whether you want it with background music or without so you may want to try those, too. Think about this. Journal. Where does your mind go when this topic comes up? Are you even aware of how often you are or aren't in the present moment? Again, be curious and kind to yourself as you discover things about yourself. You're amazing, and I'll see you next time. Bye!
