Imagine yourself as a simmering pot. What qualities or transformations are occurring within you during this waiting period?
"In the kitchen of life, sometimes we need to let things simmer to bring out the true flavors of success."
Was there something today that brought you joy/made you laugh/got your creative juices going? If not, take a look at this list for some ideas of things you may want to try in the future.
Are you simmering? I'm simmering all the time. This is one of my earliest analogies. One that - I have such good feelings around this concept: when it clicked for me, and I was able to form it into a proper analogy on the podcast, it's very early episode. It makes my heart happy because I felt like it was the affirmation I needed to know that I'm on my right path doing this. That was about five years ago, so this is near and dear to my heart. The original video sums it up pretty well, but I also have a few podcast episodes below this video that you can also listen to. Some are from the earlier days. I believe we're all simmering as we move to the next moment in our life. It's what we do while we simmer; what resources in our toolbox are we using - are we utilizing? Are we clearing out are we taking inventory? Are we having fun? Do we believe in ourselves? Do we know who we are?
Simmer. Simmer good, my friend. This is good stuff. Enjoy the video. I will see you next time. And as always, you are freaking amazing.
01:42 Today's topic is all about sitting in what I like to call this simmer. As a parent in the Empty Nest years, you could be waiting for your child to leave home; or return home; or maybe waiting for something else to happen. Life often has us waiting for something to align so that we may move forward. The imagery I like for this is cooking a stew: you put the pot on the stove with the ingredients and water but you don't immediately take it off and wonder, "Why is nothing happening?" The ingredients need time to transform to create something that tastes yummy. If you engage in another activity, set a timer and come back to check on it, time passes more smoothly. I encourage you to sit in the simmers of your life. Tell yourself, "I am simmering, and I'm amazing too!"
